My truth about Il Makiage
Once again; thanks to the power of algorithms, I succumbed to purchasing Il Makiage Power Lift Anti Aging Collagen Boost Firming and Plumbing Cream. I was not expecting the miracles shown on social media. The images were either of 35 year olds plus I myself know about the art photoshop all too well. Faithful readers will also know that collagen doesn’t penetrate skin and therefore possibly only works as a supplement. Although Il Makiage claims that the vegan collagen alongside retinol and adenosine will work together to form and plump.

I initially only applied it to my lip lines and sagging cheek lines but after I ran out of my regular moisturizer, I just started slapping it on my entire face. Now let me remind you; I am one for instant results which in the land of aging skincare is an impossible ask. Therefore I thought I was imagining things at first. However, a rejuvenating, plumbing effect was definitely taking place after a few weeks of using the cream. Well worth the 59 bucks, I would say.

One thing that stops me from shouting this from the rooftop is the trifecta. I am at that age where one product will just not do. For my face I use 3 products. A serum, a day-cream and a night-cream. Being that the day cream is currently Il Makiage, it therefore may be the reason for my more youthful appearance. Or is it the new No.7 Renew Damage Reversal Night Cream I recently purchased. I have always been a No.7 fan back in the day. Oh wait, it could also be the combination of my LimeLife Sotoks serum with the Il Makiage Cream?

*big sigh* I guess we will never know unless I go back to using Il Makiage solo. Let me think about it! If I decide to do it, there will be a part deux. That also means I have to purchase another jar of this stuff. The jar alone is very impressive and comes with a little magnetic scoop. Another added bonus is that this stuff is a soft, gel like substance, with a beautiful light scent that blends into the skin like butter.
I do believe it’s a winner. I have faith in the power of teamwork. Everyone on a team working together to achieve that common goal. Until the next product that social media decides to inundate my feed with!
Truth behold, I don’t believe any of these suppliers are “out to get us”. Overpromise? Possibly. But in the long run it all depends on the individual. In my case that would be the skin of an almost 55 year old Caucasian, who can’t stay out of the sun and has only recently started applying sunscreen. That’s a challenge for any product! I will keep searching for the miracle potion for my skin type. Stay tuned for hopefully a happy ending to these blogs one day.
