Mascara

Mascara is a delicate subject for me. I am more picky about this than any other product. Even when I am so called “roughing it” I will throw on a lick of mascara before I walk out the door…it makes a world of difference!
Testing mascara’s takes some time, since for some reason they never go on right the first couple of applications. I don’t get the right effect until a few days of use. Not sure why…
For decades I used Maybelline New York The Colossal Volume Express Mascara in Glam Black. Never the waterproof though…This mascara works like a gem and adds great thickness and length to your lashes. Since it only costs around 8 bucks it seemed to be a win-win…..until I got fancier at my old age…

I once again blame that Allure Beauty Box for sending me Tarte samples. I first fell in love with Tarteist Maneater Mascara. It will set you back $23.00 but it is worth it. Not to mention that this cheapskate always manages to find it on sale somewhere. This stuff will give you that will flutter to your lashes without having to result to falsies. Now I am blessed with some pretty decent lashes and Tarte ManEater Mascara accents them perfectly, but I am sure this product will add volume o the less endowed.
I may have mentioned before that the Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes wasn’t dramatic enough for me…but I am going to retract that statement. It just took some time to get used to but this stuff gives such an soft beautiful definition to my lashes! I will use this for my day time office look, and use the above mentioned for more dramatic occasions.

Another surprise for me, although I am not sure why since this brand has been around forever, came from Clinique. Clinique Chubby Lash Fattening Mascara it claims to make your lashes bodacious. See, I like chub in my lashes. It also gives definition, separates and lifts lashes. It lasts all day and doesn’t clump or smudge. Once again this was a sample, a full size mascara costs $19.00. Question is; will this replace my Tarte? I guess that is going to depend on my mood…or on the samples I receive!
I mentioned before that I am not a fan of waterproof mascara, mostly because it is so hard to remove. In order to get the full effect from any mascara you will need clean lashes. Some also recommended curling your lashes before applying mascara. For me this doesn’t work since I will end up getting the mascara on my upper eye lids too…one of the down sides of long lashes. *sigh* Do make sure your lashes are clean when curling as well because they become brittle when you still have a layer on!
