Oscars 2022

Does anyone give a hoot or even remember what anyone wore last night? In case you do: here are my two cents.

The most noticeable trend was cleavage. The lower the better. I am not hating on it but sometimes the attempt to be sexy goes south when it’s over done. But I will let you be the judge of that.

Then there were the bright colors! You know I am all for it. There were a lot of red gowns but I prefer the bright yellows. Which brings me to my favorite couple. Beyoncé slayed in this yellow gown by Valentino Couture. Hubby Jay Z looked amazing too in his tux and dreads.

Some best dressed were on my worst…but it’s all about taste right. With all due respect: Nicole Kidman in Armani Privé. Can’t diss either one, just out of sheer respect. Maybe it was just the wrong dress on the wrong person or vice versa. Same goes for Zoe Kravitz. I thought she drowned a little in her powder pink Saint Laurent dress but killed it with a white stunner at the after party. That dress was a wardrobe faux pas in the making but I’m sure there was some tape involved to prevent that from happening. She definitely pulled it off.

My favorites: Megan Thee Stallion. Best dressed for the Oscars by Guarav Gupta as well as the Vanity Fair after party in her taupe Monot gown. Sorry I can’t get the accent on the O. I also loved Zendaya in both her Oscar and after party look, even though I ussually leave them young ones alone. Jada Pickett Smith honestly was another one of my favorites, in no other than Jean Paul Gaultier. Very classy and sexy, without the cleavage.

But my personal favorite is the Dior Haute Couture gown worn by Rachel Zegler. But only because that is my style and I would totally wear that myself…not necessarily for the high fashion moment.

Besides the awesome fashion moments can we just focus on the positive notes. An Afro-Latino Gay best supporting actress, a deaf best supporting actor, a black production team…Liza Minnelli…there were a lot of memorable moments! But let’s be honest…that slap is still ringing in our ears. I’m going to chalk it up as we all have our days…
