Hands

My hands look about 20 years older than the rest of me. Especially now with the cold air outside and dry air inside. But also because of all the alcohol in the hand sanitizers. You know what that means right? Your hands will need some TLC…

There are a ton of hand lotions out there. The ones that actually tend to make a difference are by Crabtree and Evelyn, Avon and Josie Maran. But I never realized your hands may need something with an SPF as well. These don’t have to be overly expensive, Lubriderm makes one with an SPF 15 for around $6.00. If you would like something with a little more protection try Paula’s Choice Extra Care Non-Greasy Sunscreen SPF 50.

You may also consider pampering your hands a little more than just slapping on the lotion. How often do you exfoliate your hands? Me….hardly ever. I love Rituals, The Ritual of Ayurveda Hand Scrub to be more precise. It contains sweet almond oil and Indian Rose. Not sure what it is but I love the smell of almond oil. Maybe because it reminds me of cookies? This scrub will leave a fine layer of oil that will leave your hands feeling smooth as heck.

Another option is a hand mask. Aveeno repairing Cica Hand Mask for example. It contains Oat and Shea Butter for extra dry skin. It is actually a glove you leave on for about ten minutes. Mess free! I will be honest; there are a lot of DYI hand masks out there with avocado, honey, olive oil etc. But it gets so messy. Ain’t nobody got time for that! I will gladly pay Aveeno 3 bucks for the sheer ease and convenience.

I have learned that there are actually fillers out there for hands as well. It plumps the hands to look more youthful. Well, yeah no thank you. It is still cheaper to just sit on my hands if I don’t want anyone to see my real age. The price of a “hand fill” can cost anywhere between 600 and 800 dollars.

This is all in the “it is what it is category”. I just don’t like my hands to feel dry but I also don’t like hand lotions to get all over my cuffs, keyboard and/or stealing wheel. Therefore I have to give them a little more tender loving care every once in a while.

I will add it to my list….which seems to get longer by the day!
